Guide
The contractor or client runs the job on Autodesk Forma, Asite or Viewpoint For Projects, and your drawings have to go up there. ViewTwo prepares them: copies named the way a CDE expects, and a sheet of the details each upload asks for. You then upload them in the CDE's own upload window.
The same for every CDE. Nothing is uploaded and your issued files are not touched — ViewTwo makes copies.
1003-V2A-XX-00-DR-A-1100.pdf — no revision, status or title in the name. A PDF and a DWG of the same drawing keep their own extensions.Upload in the web browser, or through Desktop Connector.
Autodesk: Upload files; Autodesk Support on versioning by file name: accepted answer.
Autodesk: Naming standards in Desktop Connector.
Asite fills each file's attributes from an Excel sheet — the upload sheet gives you the values.
Asite needs Simple Upload switched off on the folder and Publish (or Admin) permission for you. For one value shared by every file, the Upload screen's Apply to All fills a column at once.
Asite: Publish files with attributes via MS Excel; Apply attributes in bulk.
Upload several files at once in the browser, or drag a folder into the desktop app.
Trimble: Upload multiple new files.
Under ISO 19650 the revision and status of a file are metadata held against it, not part of its unique identity. The UK BIM Framework's guidance on the CDE lists the revision code and status code as metadata, and says such additional metadata "should not be part of the unique ID" (Guidance Part C, section 2.2). A CDE keeps them in its own fields — which is what the upload sheet is for.
It matters in practice too: a CDE such as Forma recognises a new version of a document by its file name. Upload …-1100-P01 Ground Floor Plan.pdf and then …-1100-P02 Ground Floor Plan.pdf and you have two documents; upload …-1100.pdf twice and you have one document with two versions and its history intact.
ViewTwo keeps the revision and title in its own issued file names because on a shared drive, in an email or on a portal, the name is all anyone sees. In a CDE the platform shows them — so the export can leave them out.
